Control System

The Control System is used to control and monitor the ROV when it is operated underwater. The Control System functions are as follows:

  • Propulsion Control
  • Underwater Camera Control
  • Sensor monitor Control, Depth, Heading, Pitch & Roll

The traditional method has been to have either Relay(mux) control or Computer Control, however over the last few years people have been using PLC's (Programable Logic Control) This is the factory automation's answer to controlling motors, inputs and outputs to external sensors. The good thing these things are relatively cheap.

One other mode of control I have seen is to use "RC" control equipment as used by Radio Control Model enthusiasts.
